Subject: [CR] Visit to New Orleans

Bicycle Michael's on Frenchman is still going strong and is open every day except Wed. Sunday hours are limited. I imagine it will be closed Mardi Gras day. Bill Laine at Wallingford is also still in business. Weekdays only. We have a nice bike path that runs from NOMA in City Park out to the lake. We have a not-so-nice lane on St. Claude out to the parish line. If you've got a bike you can ride out St. Claude into St. Bernard and visit the Chalmette Battle Field where Jackson defeated the British some two months after the War of 1812 had officially ended. Who knew? But whoever on the list said that New Orleans is not a bike-friendly city was right. Enjoy the food and music. And don't worry about riding on our third-world streets unless you are just obsessed about miles.
