the brakes fit, so that makes it a - not unsurprisingly- 700C. This is a light touring tandem for sunday jaunts, not a camping style bike so the size is appropriate

Original means probably something horrible ;), i'd settle for practical. No point in overdoing the originality, it is not going to increase in value. Keep it safe and fun and reliable. -- mvg
