Mark:

I don't think this project matches the spirit or intent of this forum.

Seems like it will just irritate vintage bike fans. If you had asked how to upgrade using vintage parts, it would have been more appropriate. I think this question belongs on the BOB list maybe.

IF CR list members want to rsepond to this question, please do it off list.

A friend of mine is looking to acquire a bike for commuting and possibly loaded touring. Being that she's about 5'4", frames that size are difficult to find. Yesterday I ran into a circa 1970 (I'm guessing) Raleigh Super Course that at first glance at least seems to fit the bill. My thoughts are to install modern deraillers and compact double crankset to replace the original cottered steel set and call it done.

Any thoughts/suggestions, or any issues with threads etc... that I should be aware of?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
