Robert,

I almost added "... but Robert Broderick will know for sure" to my email to the list, but I didn't want to put you on the spot. I figured you'd come through with the straight dope if you felt like it. Thanks for that, and for all you do to share your accumulated wisdom with the whole clan.

Respectfully,

Mark,

Regarding vintage Stronglight alloy French threaded headsets, just a quick FYI....

http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=26326&g2_imageViewsIndex=1

...as slated for use on my 1977 Peugeot PY-10 CP team bike replica currently undergoing fork crown reconfiguration, blade straightening, seat tube dent removal, and a complete repaint at EBB after the frameset was significantly damaged during shipment from overseas (...and yes, I well realize that both the D6 and D8 predate the A9). But I also have an NOS Stronglight A9 headset with French metric threading on hand which is ultimately destined for a 1984 Peugeot PY-10 FC project at some point in the future - a headset that is essentially the same as one which was recently offered for sale on eBay:

Here are the catalog specifications for various models of vintage Stronglight alloy headsets:

http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=25835&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 (D6)

http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=25665&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 (D8)

http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=25878&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 (A9 and B10)

http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=25909&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 (Delta)

The only other high quality French threaded alloy headset from that era which I can recall and which is absent the list of potential candidates covered by either you or Chas Colerich would be the JPR derivative MAVIC 300 and 310 models which were available in metric sizing as well as a somewhat clever English / Italian homologized version as seen here:
