Buried in a long list of items for sale by Nelson Miller was this gem: +++++++++++++++++++++ ADJUSTABLE STEEL STEM.. MAJOR TAYLOR TYPE This treasure came out of my display case.. It has been completely rechromed and is exquisite. The projection of the stem is 6" and is a square steel tube that is set 45 degrees from the normal flat on the top and sides configuration.. The sliding portion is a steel casting. This magnificent piece could be used on any period maching from the late 30's through '60's I would imagine.. It looks better than new. $225 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I was given one of these in rough shape, sawed off, and hope to rebuild it properly. Looking at it after riding a lot on the Major Taylor on my early Paramount, all I could do was to smack my forehead and say, "duh." the square section makes so much sense to those who have worked hard to strangle a regular major taylor enough to resist the huge torque you can put on one end when climbing out of the saddle.
