Baird, I personally would hate having to store a bike in such conditions. The more populated eastern half of Texas is subject to terrible humidity, although the same is probably true for Washington DC. I originally hail from a much drier part of the state, and am still amazed at the humidity in central Texas. Stuff rusts even in a garage or shed. Attic ventilation via power fan or wind turbine would reduce heat, but provide a steady stream of moist air flowing past your bike.

Some suggestions: 1) Nothing lasts forever; if the bike is not that valuable, just try it and monitor the results. If you see signs of rust or other deterioration, change your plan. 2) Invest in a good used bicycle case and toss in some dessicant packs. You'd have to assemble and disassemble your bike each time, but at least you wouldn't have dust and dirt and cobwebs. 3) I assume there is no room on the wall of the garage for a storage rack. I rigged up a method to store one of my bikes flat against the ceiling of the garage. The bike is first hung upside down by the wheels on some hooks in the ceiling, then a cord running from the top tube up through a pulley in the ceiling is used to rotate the bike up out of the way. I can provide more details if needed. Of course this is still garage storage, not climate controlled, but better than attic conditions.
