Paul,

As I visit Thailand often, and moving there permanently soon, I'll be happy to inform you, also maybe I can assist with laguage problems, if it ever comes to a more extended discussion with a Thai.

I've always cycled a lot when I stayed in Thailand, and lately have been more in touch with lets say the cycling community in Thailand. Late last year I sold some classic stuff to Thailand, thorugh Ebay, everything went fine. The buyer expressed interest in buying more classic stuff from me, and while I was in Thailand in december and january, with some difficulty we got in touch on the phone again. It never came to a deal though, he just responded too late, or not at all. I did sell to incomplete classwic bikes though, to another young Thai, and that went fine. I got in touch thorugh a webiste called bkkfixed.net (Bangkok fixed) a community of 'hip' youngsters, riding fixies. That seems to be the thing right now, at least in the two big cities, Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

There is a road racing scene and an even bigger mtb scene ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/26093820@N05/). Its very difficult to get in touch and stay in touch with Thai, it has to do with their culture, which is very laid back, and also with shyness and inabilty to speak or write or good english. They are very enthusiastic though, and when you meet cyclists in real life, its always great.

I'm still trying to find out why there is an interest in classic stuff, I think I have to meet up with people to get to the bottom of that! Emails are not always responded to. But there are many clubs of f.i. the classic Honda motorbikes ('Cub'?) from the 60s, clubs of Vespa scooters, etc., so maybe classic bicycles fall in to the same category.

I'll be happy to tell you more!

regards
