Subject: [CR] Substitute for cotter pin tool

I don't have access to a cotter pin removal tool. I don't think this is original but works really well.

Use your vise. I put an axel spacer over the non threaded side of the crank. Unscrewed the nut about 1/4 inch and used the vise to squeeze the cotter into the rear axel spacer.

This keeps the bb from getting damaged from pounding on the cotter. It also keeps the cotter from getting bent from frustrated or clumsy pounding.

I know that some folks have used a pipe to support the crank arm and pound the pin into the pipe but the crank does not stay still enough for my talent level and I end up bending the cotter every time.
