Hello Howard and Lou -

I checked the paper serial number list from Trek (to see if we had a typo on the vintage-Trek.com web site). That serial number is for a 1982 Model 950. I agree with Lou, The 900 series steel road bikes were made of Columbus SP/SL tubing.

Howard - does your bike have a Reynolds sticker? You might check the SN again - they can be poorly struck and hard to read. If that is the serial number, it is very unlikely it was made with 531. Repaint? Original Columbus sticker came off and was replaced with a 531?

Cheers, Skip Vintage-Trek.com

I thought the 900 series, including the 950, were all Columbus. My information shows the 950 Pro was Columbus SL/SP in 81-82. I don't know the combination of each in the tubes. If you are sure it is Reynolds, I would like the info so I can update the bike guide. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL USA

Dear All,

Does anyone know what tubing was used in my 1982 Trek 950, serial #020514? I know it was Reynolds, but I don't know which one.

If you have information you are willing to share, please reply to my e-mail address hvulpus@gmail.com
