Only one set of water bottle bosses? Because that was back when men were men! We don' need no stinkin' extra bottle bosses.

Why did Campagnolo have only a low gear or 42 x 24? Because that's only as low as real men needed!

I vaguely remember a post by Peter Kohler regarding Tommy Simpson and dehydration possibly combined with his death on Mount Ventoux(?), and that back then riders were limited to the number of bottles they could use in a race. (I couldn't find it in the archives, Peter?)
