So..Motivated by the ever increasing expanse of my midsection, I went for my first ride in years yesterday. The bike club here (which I helped to establish in the mid '80's) has a scheduled ride everyday of the week. Great, I'll go with the club. Flying the flag for tradition and artistic engineering and because I don't have a modern bike, I show up with a proper bike. A Reynolds 531 frame I built in the 80's full Super Record etc. People gather round and gaze as though it were either an archeological find or a work of art. I'm very proud though I assure them my legs are the weak link. Everything is going great but as expected I eventually excuse myself and slide out the back. They'll pick me up on the way back. I may be slow and out of shape but I know better than to blow up trying to stay with guys young enough to be my children. About 1/2 of the distance I intend to ride I turn around and head back. All of a sudden I feel my handlebars move. Crap! what's this. I had completely rebuilt the bike to assure it's reliability. EXCEPT I never thought to check and tighten the handlebar binding bolt. I feel under the stem and it's gone. I did get back OK but need said bolt. Any one out there have just the bolt?
