Subject: [CR] restoring frames

Paul I have before sending frames to painters checked frame for poor filing of lugs, rust and other defects. Than I have filed lugs to smooth contour. Sanded rust out to see what is under it. You can't expect painter to do a good job if their are problems beyond what his fee will cover, I spent over 40 hours filing on my 59 Hetchins. BB was cast iron and very rough. Lugs needed filing. Were tubes were rusted I sanded to bare metal to see what was below than I took it too Ed Litton who found a small crack in seat stay after removing paint which we added a rear rack braze on to fix. Plus a small crack in fork blade which he brazed and than chrome plated only up to that point and painted rest of fork has you can't chrome over brazing and expect an excellent chrome finish Thanks Charles Nighbor Architect Walnut Creek CA U S A PS Ask for photos of Hetchins
