Okay, my first survey in that gritty dim garage was off by a cm. The actual size is 57cm c-c w/ a 55.5 c-c t/t

Today I began to clean & take it apart. The saddle is, as i said in the first post, excellent condition. So I had leapt to the conclusion the rest if it was, too.

Oddly, this is not the case. It appears the owner cleaned the frame and kept up the saddle but only added oil to the chain and derailleurs. Mighty filthy. Gear and sprocket teeth worn below the gums. Chain seems almost new though. Cranks and pedals seem barely used, too. And the front and rear derailleurs don't show much inside cage scratching. F/T clamp is broken. Just an odd overall mix of care & wear.

Frame is still okay. Numerous small scratches and several larger ones. No digs, divots, or dents, however.

He also had a kickstand on it which is normally cause for some apprehension but he had mounted it with innertube rubber so the chainstays remain uncrunched.

Yeah, I think I'm going to part it out. Had it been in better original condition I think the arguments for keeping it together would've won out.

Thanks for all the on and off-list input.

Thanks, too, to Chas. Colerich for the link to the '74 Bicycling Magazine road test. http://www.velo-pages.com/<http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14307&g2_imageViewsIndex=1> main.php?g2_itemId=14307&g2_<http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14307&g2_imageViewsIndex=1> imageViewsIndex=1<http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14307&g2_imageViewsIndex=1> The tested model appears to be the same size as this one.

I'll offer the bits to the CR first after I git'er all cleaned up.
