Is it possible then that the lug lining was an option? All 3 of my chrome '71's don't have any.

"I put to gether this album on wool jersey a while back. I have somehow managed to accumulate a number of 70's chromed Paramounts, so I have a pretty good time line.

Note that the 1970 and 1971 have red lug lining, the 1972 has black lug lning, and the 1973 has no lug lining. So this fits well with the idea that lug lining ended at the end of 1972.
