Hi Rob

It is customary to rivet them on. Either using a pop rivet 'gun' or, an alloy rivet tapped into place with a metal steerer tube to act as a hard surface to take the impact. A machine tool maker made me up a centre punch with a dombed cap to retain the shape of the head of the alloy rivet. Works a treat, especially on cast Hetchins head badges with the pronounced face of casting design!
