There was a special ferrule and bare housing set made for the last run of housing. It may be available from some vintage sources over there. Alternately, a piece of 5mm housing with the end ground flat and then rounded slightly would at least not harm the drlr. At the other end, there are ferrules commonly available for 5mm housing to the "diver's helmet" cable stop.
