Paul-

I read your post below, and I am trying to figure it out... Are you asking CR folks to donate money to your local bicycle coalition?

If so, I have to say:

1) This is not the right forum for your appeal... even if you think it's really, really important 2) Local bicycle coalitions mostly need local support, and national bicycle coalitions need national support 3) This is not the right forum for your appeal... 4) This forum is the wrong forum for this topic... that's why it's called off-topic 5) Off-topic means don't post that topic to this list

If I am mis-interpreting your post, then I apologize. But this discussion list isn't about advocacy, OK? Believe it or not, pretty much every cyclist I know believes that it's important to not get run over by a motorist, but this forum is about vintage bicycles.

Dear Listers, OK, it's off topic. I believe this is an instance when we may excuse, no, encourage the exception.

My feelings about this story are intense and I find myself breathlessly casting about, seeking community for help encompassing this problem.

I cycle this neighborhood weekly. This is a major commuting corridor between Potrero and downtown. If I went looking to mow down cyclists, there's no better place.

I have kids who commute on bicycles. These same teenagers play "Grand Theft Auto" and laughingly commit heinous virtual acts just like this. I can't help but suppose there's a connection..... OMG.

The local Bicycle Coalition needs our support. 'nuff said? Oh no!

Can we get moderator support for this issue? Dale?
