Tom,

To change to 9/16 threads, one needs merely to run the 9/16 tap through the French threads. It is almost like a clean-up pass by which I mean you are not taking out much metal.

There are a lot of old Lyotard platform pedals out there with French threads, so do keep in mind that you can't go back.
