Subject: [CR] Cool Discovery and Peloso Headbadge and Decals Wanted

Some of you may remember the Italian "mystery" frame I restored last year and dubbed "Civetta". It's one I did not think would ever be indentified, and I really did not care as it is such a great bike I was fine just riding it and enjoying it for what it is.

But I got some exciting news the other day from a collector in France who owns an original example of a nearly identical frame, which is a Peloso. They are both stamped "RE" on the seat-lug, which he wrirtes:

"The "ré" stamping put me on the way. Monsieur Ré was the boss of one famous bike shop in the area of Marseille in the 60's. As a good bussines man he was going in Italia directly to buy the best parts possible a a good price. He became a good friend of Mr Peloso and ask him to put is name on the seatlugs in the frame for the french market."

He sent me photos of his bike and sure enough it's a match! So now I'm looking for a headbadge, and decal set for mine. Giorgio does have a decal set but the crests are different from the one I'm looking for. I realize not too many (if any?) of these bikes probably made it to the States, but maybe some the European or UK listmembers can help me dig some up?

Here's a link to my Wool Jersey page for the "Civetta" which I have not edited yet to reflect the new info. But I did add photos of the bike in France and the badge and decals I need which are on pages 2-3.

If anybody has any info on Peloso I would love to hear it. I've only seen Mike Barry's blog post about his, and heard Jeff Lyon's recollections of one he saw in the UK during the 70's. But an archive search only turns up posts for Giorgio's decals. Not even a spot on the CR Italian page!

Thanks in advance for any help, Jon Williams
