Hmmm. IMO definitely not British (Falcon) nor Belgian (Kessels) nor Japanese (Miyata)

This frame has braze-on water bottle bosses and shift lever bosses (late 70s?) but an older style decal set...

Notice the lack of tubing decal...and the straight cut "spigots" on bbkt shell. This is not a super high end frame set.

Maybe there was an Italian Merckx licensee?

Maybe there was an errant set of decals floating around?

Hey Listers,

Came across this interesting auction on eBay and thought I would out it to the group. The listing is for a new old stock 1970s Eddy Merckx frameset. Not much information is given, but the seller seems open to folks contacting them.

I don't know anything about early Merckx frames other than that they were often built by various different marques. Can anyone identify, based on the lugs and other features, who might have built this particular frame and perhaps date is more precisely? There is a sticker on the downtube which says "...sport Balogna." Could that mean it was Italian-made?

Looking forward to the discussion!
