Well I guess the market will speak on the question of whether it is a pukka Campagnolo NOS item or a perhaps interesting but misrepresented curiosity. There was a similar piece offered on Yahoo Japan last August, but it was PAT 83. If anything like the current price holds, which isn't out of bounds for a NIB early '80s NR mech, I'd reckon the market will have determined it to simply be an aftermarket mod whereas if the price goes up North of 300 or 400 USD then one would need to begin to seriously consider the possibility that this was a known rare factory variant. Well either that or somebody- or more than one somebody really- got fooled into overpaying for a black anodizing job.
