Hi all. I don't understand the hostility to WD-40. I'd love to have an ultrasonic tank, but at present, can't afford one. Because it is well regarded by so many on the list, i may break down and get one someday. I clean a lot of parts pretty obsessively and my tools are WD-40, superfine steelwool, toothbrushes [esp. smaller children's toothbrushes], straightslot screwdriver for scraping caked up grime, strips of cotton Tee shirts and lots of elbow grease. I like kerosene but consider it a bit dangerous for routine use. I don't like to use water around steel parts. Perhaps people dislike WD-40 because it is cheap and readily available.
