Hey Billy,

Want to make clear, I'm not hostile toward WD-40, just don't think it's very effective for me and bike cleaning. Doesn't seem to be a good solvent for dissolving grease and gunk, not what it's designed for to be sure, and as a lubricant, not really its intended use either, it's not great. I've got some out in the garage and use it on my lawnmower and stuff. For spray type products I like the LPS line.

In order to not incur the wrath of those who might consider this subject too mundane and/or pedestrian, or put them to sleep, I'll make any further responses off list.

\r?\n> Hi all. I don't understand the

\r?\n> hostility to WD-40. I'd love to have an ultrasonic tank, but

\r?\n> at present, can't afford one. Because it is well regarded by

\r?\n> so many on the list, i may break down and get one someday. I

\r?\n> clean a lot of parts pretty obsessively and my tools are

\r?\n> WD-40, superfine steelwool, toothbrushes [esp. smaller

\r?\n> children's toothbrushes], straightslot screwdriver for

\r?\n> scraping caked up grime, strips of cotton Tee shirts and

\r?\n> lots of elbow grease. I like kerosene but consider it a bit

\r?\n> dangerous for routine use. I don't like to use water around

\r?\n> steel parts. Perhaps people dislike WD-40 because it is

\r?\n> cheap and readily available. I'll give it up when you pry it

\r?\n> from my cold, stiff fingers. Just sayin'. Billy Ketchum;
