Not to take anything away from Post (rip), but I've seen numerous descriptions of his record-setting Paris-Roubaix race as having a very strong tailwind that day. Just something to keep in mind when people try to compare road races.

Post was one of those tough-as-nails characters in the saddle and as a team director. Must have been VERY unpleasant for his team riders when he took them to task for sub-par performances or missed-opportunities.
