John, I may have what you need. Not NOS but VGC used. It's an on-topic 1982 Bi-Polar model. http://bikesmithdesign.com/temp/hippie-hip.jpg Because the cup moves in a spherical cavity reamed into the pelvis range of motion is enhanced. Which is why they were recommended for cyclists.

A bit "old School" but aren't we all. None of that new-fangled ceramic nonsense. And since it doesn't bond to the bone, you can use it with a full load right away. I was commuting by bike 3 week out.

A couple of downsides to this old technology though. It was always uncomfortable for walking, though never for cycling. And over time the outer cup wears it's way higher and higher into the pelvis, effectively shortening the leg. So after a while you might find yourself using built up shoes or different length cranks.

Also, might be hard to find a mechanic to do the installation. I always do my own work, but sometimes even I will admit that it's time for a professional.

Dale requires a price be placed on such postings so let's say $500 which is a real bargain compared to a new one.

Seriously: If you do go for a replacement, give me a call 612-824-2372 first. I've been through this 3 times, '78, '82 & '93, and there are some practical considerations they never told me about. --
