All the chat about who made team bike and when, got me thinking of a larger thing, At the end of a season, and sometimes prior, the team mechanic ( as part of his perks ) got to sell off the remaining , left over stuff..I know the Spanish teams merely ( if that's the right word ) recycled the bikes down through their "feeder " teams until eventually the juniors got them. But, what happened to all those wonderful steel bikes , or frames even , that became surplace when the great Carbon con came in and all that " on topic " equipment, wheels, cobalto brakes, non carbon handlebars etc,,,,somewhere, someplace, there must be storage sheds with superb older bikes stacked to the ceiling,,Most of the riders from those eras are now gone, or pretty old and there would be bikes stood around at their houses,,I wonder if on the Continent, there are Goodwill shops like we have in USA where mechanics donate their leftovers as we have the early "10 speeds" here. It's just a thought..maybe someone in the know could chime in. I was in a bike shop in Brugges a while back and they had bikes from before the war and up to about the '50's stacked up, laying flat way up to the ceiling,,,but they weren't for sale ( at least to a foreigner ), but where are all the others ?
