Does your frame have any engraving on the rear drop-outs Hugh ie a Cinelli C winged log...?
I wonder whether this frame could be a CONTINI resprayed and retransferred by the sller or someone else. CONTINIs look very Cinelli-like with grooved tubes and also plenty of engraved winged-C motifs. They are not of Italian manufacture but are Spanish.
I first saw them in the large bike shop in Manacor in Majorca, and thought instantly that they were Cinellis...acres of chrome on them and very well finished. Later I bought some as the shop was clearing its tsock of steel frames to make way for the Treks and GiANTS...
A few months ago I saw a CONTINI being sold on French Ebay....obviously France is quite close to Majorca..just an hour's flight away There has been a thread on Bike forum which morr less echoed the type of opinions put forward here. In that case the frame had its CONTINI transfers but the owner had been told it was a model made by Cinelli specially for Contini
Just a thought...the last one I sold a pearl white and cchrome frame I bought for myself but then sold it..is only about twenty-five miled from here..so I might try to get some jpegs.
