Subject: [CR] Rear Brake Attached Toward Front of Bike: Custom Rear Pannier

Devon et all:

(Dale this is pannier setup has been used on my KOF Whitcomb that has toured thoughout U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico for 60,000 miles.) I have always been a "weight weenie" bicycle tourist, averaging 15 lbs for all my self-contained touring gear. The pannier is one piece, it is 6" in diameter with a length wise zipper for access. The stiffening comes from the natural tendency to push out when folded in half. Just 5 straps hold it securely on the bike: one top, two on either side, and two on each side at the bottom. This creates enough space for a large-size mummy bag and a one person tent!! I call it my "snake" as when not on the bike it looks like a 5 1/2' long snake. Devon: other questions just e-mail me. (I will gladly email to anyone a photo that explains this if your interested.)
