Bobby,

I think Sandranian answered your other questions.

There is little if any logic to the "serial" numbers that were stamped into most European production bikes.

In some cases "Team" bikes had the size and possibly the Team rider's initials stamped in to the frame.

I recently acquired a KOF 1988 Peugeot Biarritz in 9 out of 10 condition. It's too pretty to ride so this week I got an identical bare frame with some patina that I'm going to build up as a rider.

When I checked the numbers stamped into the bare frame bottom bracket I found that they were the same as on my complete bike!

Consider bike serial numbers as luck Lotto numbers! ;-)
