Subject: [CR] Dating a Carlton?

I have a Carlton Flyer path racer which I use as my around-town, good-weather bike. https://picasaweb.google.com/Choburger/CarltonFlyer In trying to date the bike, I have looked at the Carlton sites without any success. The BB is stamped with two entirely different numbers. On the drive side, "D8852" and on the non-drive side "166671." I understand that the Flyer model was produced in various configurations for a number of years dating from as early as 1949. I presume this bike was made before Raleigh took over in the late 60's but that's just a guess. Anyone have any knowledge of Carlton's system for serial numbers or any other thoughts?
