There is a reference on the Hetchins web site that 1953 was the first year for Campagnolo drop outs (on a Hetchins). There are pictures of a '53 MB equipped with them. I have a '53 MB which does not have them, so I guess there was a transition period during that year.

I am told the Campy Sport rear derailleur was introduced in the early 50's, but I cannot recall ever seeing Campy forged rear dropouts with the little hole for the spring tang on any bike that old...and the earliest bike in my collection with that spring tang hole is (I thought) a '58 Ideor Asso.

Not at all like I think I've seen a lot, especially of 50's era derailleur bikes, so I wanted to ask: "Is there a rear dropout timeline or an CR illumin-dropout-ati who can point me in the right direction, time-wise and/or info-wise, on campy rear dropouts?"

Thanks in advance for replies!
