I have people bring these in all the time wanting to restore them. I usually counsel them that if it would be worth less when you get done than what you have to spend to get it there, it isn't worth it. A UO8 almost always qualifies. Clean it up as best you can and give to a needy nephew or a charity. I don't know why someone would spend big bucks on a cheaply made water pipe bike boom bike when there are so many true classics out there that deserve our attention. A paint job on a Peugeot will cost more than a paint job on a Masi since you have to do the lugs in black if it is to be original. And the parts are much harder to make work since they are of such low quality, and invariably have never been maintained. Sorry, a pet peeve. Now if it were a special bike like a PY10 CP and you were trying for a Bernard Thevenet TdF lookalike, that I could see. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8379107@N03/sets/72157625774941641/

What is the cheapest model Peugeot bicycle anyone should bother putting "proper estoration" time toward? Like is a UO-8 worth a complete and proper estoration? My guess is there is no definitive model as the models we discuss n this forum all seem to be classics. Ted E. Baer alo Alto, CA USA
