Subject: [CR] The Elswick-Hopper Story

After a long gestation of nearly ten years and much research former list member Nigel Land's book "Elswick-Hopper of Barton on Humber" has been published.

The story starts in 1880, covers both world wars, includes a chapter on Falcon up to the present cen-tury, and concludes with a social history, garnered from old newspapers and exten-sive oral history recordings. But be aware that it is primarily a history of the compa-ny, so don't expect it to be crammed with bikes, though an appendix describes some of the more noteworthy products

The price is 18 GBP and Nigel will be happy to add his signature or a dedication if asked. It is a large format heavy book with 284 pages and a hard cover, so postage will not be cheap at 4.50 GBP for mainland UK, 9.50 GBP for Europe, and 18 GBP for the rest of the world. Any profits are committed to publishing further local history books.

Please contact Nigel direct if you would like a copy at ndland@btinternet.com .
