This is a bit later than the dates you are discussing below, but in the mid 70's 650b Hakkapeliitta's gained some traction in Northern Calif. 650 rims were smaller and tougher with the Super Champion Mod 58 being the rim of choice. Hakkapeiitta's were also a part of the early mountain bike scene before it settled out on 26" but that is another topic and one not for this list. The final iteration of this trend can be seen in Bruce Gordon's modern 700c version of this tire.
