What.. no snow down in San Diego, eh ??

Thanks Chris for the post ... and it jogs me to put San Diego on my CALENDER !! (got Austin on... just fergot SD !!). April 7th - April 10th. GOT it. This time we're heading downtown to the 'Concourse' - a few short block walk up from the Amtrak Station.

So.. .what bike might I _ride_ down to the Show in San Diego.... hmmm Last year I took my Pretty Specialized Sequoia - (and rolled it past Jim and his son for a memory blast). It's kind of a lightweight tourer (sorry Dale !)... but it is kind of LIGHWEIGHT !! And with the recently mounted Pasela 35mm tires, its super stable. Seems like for long rides I'm just stuck on bringing at least a handlebar bag.... so if I decide to ditch some of the 'stuff' I took in the panniers of the Sequoia last year.... I'd probably opt for the old ugly Mondia Special. For the long days, I've found geometry, bb height, and overall 'feel' of the Mondia really suits me well. Stuck with friction campy shifters and TA crank, but a duraAce 9 speed drive train with it's light weight chain, plus new Velocity rims, do make it perform quite nicely. And it's lighter and 'livelier' than the Speciallized (and many of my other bikes as well). It has enough 'curve' to the forks, the handlebar bag is not offensively noticeable (and hands free riding is easy). Pics of it are at: http://tinyurl.com/4bgmvaa (mapped) ((AND check out who's now ridin with me on the Mondia Bar Bag.... keep a cool eye on the old coot ! http://www-hsc.usc.edu/~rpinder/MoreJack/jack20110201.html )

What I'm looking REALLY forward to pulling out again soon is the Windsor Pro ... thx to Wayne I've got a few new sets of Salmon brake pads... one set destined for the campy side pulls on this bike. I'll pump those sewups to way over 100psi, and then it will be very curious to see how the bikes performs... with REAL brakes !! Pics of it are at: http://tinyurl.com/2uhslq (mapped)
