Subject: Medici serial number deciphering.

Good morning,

Newbie here - my first post! I want to say how much I've enjoyed going through the CR archives and reading about all of the old school bicycle history out there. I'm a mid to late '80s racer (I stunk) and love steel bikes from that era and into the early '90s before ugly oversized aluminum with horrid welds and cooked in an oven plastic totally took over.

I just bought a Medici off of Ebay, lots of chrome and a pearl white paint job, and it will hopefully arrive at the end of the week. The frame is in very nice shape, but doesn't have a tubing decal on it. I'm guessing its all SP since its a 60 cm c-t frame, and old Medici catalogs from the mid '80s seem to indicate that they went to SP from SL in the larger sizes. If its later in timescale towards the late '80s or early '90s, then I've been told it could be Tange Prestige. I'm simply curious to know what it is.

The serial is 60 02090, which probably indicates a 60 cm frame, possibly made in 1990 if I'm interpreting it properly. Does anyone have any ideas? Is that interpretation correct? Would the serial indicate the year of manufacture, and therefore the most probable tubeset?

Thank for any help or suggestions. I'm going to try to build her up with old Dura Ace 7400 eventually, but the Montagner is first in line.

Thanks again!
