From: Donald Gillies asks:

Is this the most valuable bicycle on Ebay right now ??

Imagine the bragging rights for this bicycle !! "Last week I raced a Klein Quantum and beat that guy on my SEARS bicycle !!!" It appears to be an early 1960's campy / (? 531 ?) sears bicycle from Austria with high-quality parts (except steel crankset) ... ! ! !

and Bob Freitas also saw it:

EBAY OUTING, your basic CAMPI equiped SEARS bike(PUCH?) looks like it should polish up nicely, this could be your ride for the VELO RENDEVOUS............................... BOB FREITAS 85o MILL VALLEY,CA http://ebay.com/<blah> http://ebay.com/<blah

---------------- This Sears appears to be the same model as the one I rode at Cirque 03, except more original. They are from the early 60s (note that the record front has the cable stop). They have decent seamed tubing, assuredly NOT 531. The thread that followed in early May allowed that it was, as Donald suggests, pretty funky -- down to the chainstay bridge that is a genuine ESGE (?) kickstand holder. This one clearly has more original parts than mine - I'm inspired to look for a Nervar 3-arm steel crank to replace the cheapo stronglight that I used to replace one that was clearly not original. BTW, the hubs are not exactly top-line, the basic Normandy HF with pressed cups.
