this is actually exactly how the makers of the full-carbon "Lightweight" wheels, Dierl&Obermayer started: making wheels for sulkies. Apparently the requirements are similar: fast, stiff, light... (These are the wheels used for example by Lance Armstrong and others in the last TdF's mountain stages)
