Dear Ann:

I'm afraid I've got to rain on your parade some more: didn't Schwinn have Suntour make special "Schwinn Approved" bar cons? My '74 Paramount had a set, but I don't know if they were original to all the bikes or what year they were used. All the Suntour Barcons I've seen have the black hoods, but that isn't absolute proof.

Also, the spiral metal cables are original, but I cordially detest them. They make the shifting spongy becase they are too compressible, and they also are great at sanding the paint off the head tube. My Raleigh Pro has the scars from these. If you can stand it, use SIS housing: very un-compressible for much better shifting, and kind to paint. Maybe you can get some in Kool Orange.
