Hello All ,
Best wishes , happy holidays , happy new year , and may peace bless us with its presence .
About momovelo :
Personally , I placed an order by telephone . Nothing happened . Communication works two ways . I was just as guilty of not-communicating as Kai at momovelo . I was disappointed about some things I'd wanted to give as holiday gifts not appearing at my house . I wrote a note . Kai responded with a very nice message , and an explanation . I asked him if I could post his message to the C. R. List . He has never responded . So , since he didn't tell me not to , and since his message might be useful and / or interesting to many on the C. R. List , here it is . I VERY slightly edited it to remove a very small amount of off-topic conversation .
And I sincerely hope that the order I placed by telephone was not "the straw which broke the camel's back" . I hope I wasn't part of the problem . I think Mr. Kai Matsuda -san is a wonderful person . I think the goals he has embraced for momovelo , as a business , are extremely admirable . I also feel the spirit of momovelo is a wonderful thing . And , I hope things go very well in the future ! Actually what follows is from TWO messages .

\r?\n> Hi Raoul,
\r?\n>
\r?\n> I've had to return much more emphasis to my day job,
\r?\n> and am therefore dramatically scaling back the momovelo
\r?\n> operation. It will be returning to its original mode as
\r?\n> an occasional retail store and will be dropping most of
\r?\n> the mail order aspect.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> However, I have been in touch with several other mail order houses and
\r?\n> am heartened to find that the vast majority of the products I sold are,
\r?\n> or will be available soon, through:
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Wallingford
\r?\n> Harris Cyclery
\r?\n> Rivendell Bicycle Works
\r?\n> American Cyclery, SF
\r?\n> Jitensha Studio, Berkeley
\r?\n> Renaissance
\r?\n> Saint John's Cycles, UK
\r?\n> Bikefix, UK
\r?\n>
\r?\n> In fact, I can only think of a few things that will not be available
\r?\n> through one of these channels. And it is for this reason, that I've made
\r?\n> the choice to back off -- I was not aware of it, but my presence did
\r?\n> little more than confuse the retail channel, and hurt these other
\r?\n> vendors -- and that's the last thing I want to do. Everyone struggles in
\r?\n> the bicycle industry, I guess -- and the niche that I'd been trying to
\r?\n> carve out is already crowded with folks much more deserving than I!
\r?\n>
\r?\n> I will still try to have the retail shop open for special projects:
\r?\n> restorations, the free bicycle programme, lectures and other events...
\r?\n> but I will do my best to steer clear of the path forged by these other
\r?\n> businesses.
\r?\n>
