Subject: [CR]old cinelli badge design question

There is a distinct difference between the Cinelli badge/crest decal usually seen on the seat-tube of Cinelli frames of the 1950s, and the badge seen on 70s frames. The later badge is, to put it in a word, cruder. The graphic detailing is much simpler, the colors less complex in the later badge.

The earlier badge is a real work of art: the colors are much more complex in tone (the gold, in particular, looks almost like gold leaf), and there is a much greater level of graphic detail in the rendering of the crest, in the older decal.

So, two questions: 1) when did the badge design change, more or less? And 2) has anyone ever reproduced this earlier badge? I have a frame that it would be perfect on..that is, I think the earlier badge would be perfect, depending on when the badge decal changed. And I do love the look of the earlier one. It is truly exquisite.

Concerning Carlos Kleiber one of the greatest of all post-war conductors:

The glamour often associated with a conductor's life held no appeal for him; he preferred to stay at home in Munich. He once told Leonard Bernstein: "I want to grow in a garden. I want to have the sun. I want to eat and drink and sleep and make love and that's it."
