I'm happy to see next year's event moved to early June. There always seemed to be a conflict in late April/early May, not the least of which is the annual New Orleans Jazzfest. Plus, in early June, many schools will be out, so maybe more attendees can bring their kids, something which has been missing in the past. May as well start indoctrinating them young in classic bikes. Of course, us old farts don't have young children, but there must be several list members who do.

I just wanted to address a small labeling issue with the enjoyable photos you posted. I believe some of the pictures in the first group labeled as being from Saturday's rides are actually from the Fixed Friday ride (I will refrain from saying "Fixie" ;-) ), led by Jeremy McDaniel. From all reports, Friday's ride was enjoyed by all who took the bet that it wouldn't rain. I was sorry not to be there--for the ride and for the Cirque, an event I've come to look forward to each year. However, health and school conspired against me. The month-later dates for next year more happily mating with my university schedule--and with hopefully no more surgeries between then and now--I'd like to volunteer to lead the Fixed Friday ride as I have in past years. Nothing against my good friend and colleague Mr. McDaniel, but it'll give something to aim at and look forward to!!

It looks as if this year's Cirque was an unmitigated success (and I can't believe the way the late-night hotel-room auction has developed into such a big draw in its own right!), and I look forward to rejoining the craziness next year. All the best, and lest anyone forget:

Ride smart, stay safe, have fun.
