I have a bunch of radial spoked front wheels -- some dating back to the early 80's. Only one radial spoked front wheel has blown up on me and, like other, it was hanging up. I also had a front Camp Record hub (probably from the 70's) crack during a Tuesday/Thursday Rose Bowl session but I attributed that to old age and multiple lacings. I think the controversy about radial spoked front wheels is pretty much settled now. Almost all front wheels, including mountain bike wheels, are radial spoked but the hubs are designed for this method.
