Subject: [CR]Zunow Hummingbird 55cm frameset FS - 1981?

After deep introspection I've decided to winnow my Zunow collection (slightly). I'm offering it the more discriminating members of this esteemed list before casting it upon the ebay waters. I'll probably put it up for auction if no one steps up by 12/1 or so. (In private correspondence a couple of you have expressed mild interest in owning such a thing, so if either of you responds the first one gets it - you know who you are).

This bike was originally sold by Chuck Hoefer (formerly of CaliMasi), owner of Pacific Coast Cycles (Oceanside, CA) when his store was still in Carlsbad. Chuck remembers that he had two of these, and thinks he sold them no later than '81.

The bike came to me without any of the original components, so I have stripped it down and cleaned it up a bit for the next zookeeper (...er, caretaker). Here are some photos of the frame, fork, Chuck (posing with the bike in November 2004) and, lastly, a visual explanation of why I would be willing to part with this "unique" gem:

The frame is, of course, steel. Tange Prestige DB to be precise. It has the usual Zunow understated graphics, and a color scheme guaranteed to get you noticed at the next vintage ride (and probably shunned at any other sort of group ride). Dimensions are 55cm seat tube and 55cm top tube, both c-t-c. Wheelbase is 99cm. I put maybe 2000 miles on it, and it is a really sweet-riding bike. Neutral, responsive, comfortable.

No serious paint scrapes, the worst of them are visible in the photos: right side of seat tube, outside of right chain stay. The paint has faded a bit over the years - you can tell by looking at the band where the front der mounts. In this case, most people probably won't notice the slight reduction of the original paint's brilliant hue(s).

I'm asking $375 + shipping & insurance at cost, carrier of your choice. N/C for very conscientious packing. Just the thing for that special someone (you) for the holidays.
