As I previously mentioned this is a vintage ride with a twist. I have been, for several years, on the committee that puts on the "Miles For Matheny" event for the Matheny Medical and Educational Center (www.matheny.org). For this year we have added a vintage bike category for the event (a first in a fund raiser?) so I hope some of you will come. While fundraising is encouraged it is not mandatory in order to particpate. The vintage bike specific ride will be approximately 32 miles (or we can make it longer if you please) through truly beautiful cycling country in Somerset and Hunterdon counties. There are also shorter and longer routes and a HARD climbing route available if you prefer that. That morning there is also a 5K run (timed) and a family walk if you would like to bring friends or family along. Afterwards there is an excellent picnic at the school from which you can enjoy an incredible vista.
This year we have put a weekend package together so you can come to central NJ and ride or do some sightseeing on Saturday, and participate in the event on Sunday. Accommodations will be at the luxurious North Maple Inn, Basking Ride, NJ (http://www.northmapleinn.com). The special room rate will be approximately $59.00.
Some 25,000 brochures are being mailed, and this year they will specify "Vintage Ride" so who knows what will happen?!
