"I found this historical item on ebay today which may be of interest to the list. I've been coveting these Peugeot team jerseys and never do seem to be able to obtain one."

Dave... check French eBay. There's a seller on that who takes PayPal (making him one of six sellers in the entire Republic who does!), ships to the States and has maillot cycliste Peugeot all the time. Or, dare, I suggest, just splurge and get one of Vintage Velos lovely wool Peugeot jerseys... much nicer than the originals actually.

We don't often talk about classic racing kit here (maybe it's off topic) but hands down, that classic chequerboard Peugeot has got to be one of the most coolest ever. It's worth getting a PX-10 just to be able to wear the jersey. Prendas (UK) has recreated the cap although it's not quite the same pattern and they didn't even bother getting the distinctive font for Peugeot right. Shorts.. well good luck! Peugeot even sold little white socks with the chequerboard stripe.

Other really snazzy jerseys of the CR timeframe: BSA in the 1950s, Falcon in the 1960s and I always like the Bic one of the late 1960s. The Eddy Merckx special in last month's "Cycle Sport" was great just for the colour pix of racing cyclists in that classic kit. What they wear is as different as what they ride nowadays. And more's the pity.
