Subject: [CR]Ribbed cable.

I believe it was made by Clarke's in the UK. There may have been other makers. I often wonder if it would be possible to have it replicated by one of these Far Eastern manufacturers who remake classic car and motorcycle spares.
The most exotic cable I know of was made by GB. It came in several colours and consisted of a nicely braided cloth liner with a clear vinyl outer cover. Both over the steel inner of course. The Vinyl outer gave a depth to the coloured braid and it looks most attractive. I have rebuilt a 1953 Gillott Taper Tube road/path with some in ivory . I only just had enough to do the one bike.
Speaking of cables, for the older machines which used a bare round wire coil spring control cable I have found the inner wire feed conduit from a MIG welder to be a sutable looking replica. The fact is is made of stainlees steel is a bonus. Ask for defunct conduits at your local car workshop or welders.
