Did he beat Fausto, or did he actually catch him? Given Coppi's prowess as a pursuiter and time trial rider, that would be a tremendous acheivement. Wasn't Coppi the world pursuit champion in '47 and 49? I would almost expect an equipment failure if Schulte actually caught him.
