Subject: [CR]further Witcomb vs. Masi

It's good to have fuzzy short term memory when it comes to focussing on a time about a generation ago. The tale of Italian racing bikes vs. the Brits seemed to have hit a doughnut hole of sorts here in Stockton, CA where the only racers I knew, Sue Anderson and her husband Barclay, rode Jack Taylors and for training Bob Jackson. He remains a computer science instructor in the hard ghetto high school two blocks from my home and has in his 38 years or so teaching there instilled a love of rock climbing, cycling and other outdoor activities to kids who never ventured far beyond the farmlands where they and their parents toiled picking cucumbers, tomatoes, asparagus and the like. This couple introduced me to the serious side of cycling, and notably it took both Barclay and myself to help keep the missus in competitive cycling shape--she was the legitimate western states champ; with a tail wind we were at best domestiques.
