Hi,

I finally took the plunge and joined the list. My name is Rick, I'm a graduating law student, aged 50. I live in Portland, OR, but will probably move, because there are no jobs here. Not much use for a bicycle-friendly town if one can't find a job...

Anyway, I have exactly ONE bicycle. It's a 1977 Motobecane Grand Touring. I bought it new in June of 1977 in San Jose, California. Before the Motobecane, I had a Raleigh Record, probably a 1970, that my father bought for me. It was always a problem-- never shifted well-- so when I was 21, I decided I had had enough of the problems, and bought the Moto. Paid $250; the first and last bike I bought. Sold the Raleigh to a friend for $20. Commuted on the GT for several years. Currently, I'm not riding it, because I want to overhaul it, touch up the paint, make some upgrades, etc. Considering its age, and the years of use I got out of it, it's in amazing condition-- almost showroom condition. So until I can overhaul her, she's off the road.

Last year, I bought a Bianchi Project 3 frameset, which still needs to be built up. My dream bike from the '90s, a lugged-steel beauty I bought to take some of the city-biking wear and tear pressure off my Motobecane.

And I've got a line on a really sweet, nearly mint '83 Raleigh Prestige that I'm eyeing for purchase "someday" to replace the Raleigh Record. And down the road, a Trek 720, and a Gitane...

You know the drill.
